The Best and Worst Reality Competition Show Judges

There’s lots of reasons why we love reality competition shows, but there’s nothing more important than good judges. Contestants will come and go, but the judges are the glue that holds a show together. If you have the right mix, you’ll have a hit that stays popular for years. Choose the wrong judges however, and people will lose interest pretty quickly. It’s more than just having something to say, it’s how you say it’s an whether or not you’re actually saying anything. There are plenty of judges who do a decent job, but only a handful that are truly great. Read more »

Top 10 Songs from the 1980′s to Sing for Karaoke

Remember when this was considered hot?

The 80’s and Karaoke go together like Lucky Charms and hyperactive Leprechauns. This is the decade that produced some of the most ridiculous music in human history. But the strange thing is many of these hits stand the test of time – at least in terms of fun factor. It’s the mix of kitsch appeal and the fact that you’re actually singing in front of an audience that makes them a blast – and even cool (if you can pull them off).

My Least Favorite Things I See on Facebook All the Time

I think Facebook is pretty great. There have been some wonderful things to come out of my experience with it. For example, it helped me to meet and stay in touch with some awesome people. But recently, I find myself staying away from it on purpose because there’s just too much junk on there that distracts me from the real world. It got worse after the last update (the one before Timeline) when my feed turned into a mess of stuff no fully-grown adult should care about. Here are some of the most annoying… Read more »

A Bunch of Actors I Can’t Tell Apart

I like to think I’m pretty up-to-date on entertainment news. I know all kinds of strange and interesting facts about movies and television. But no matter how much trivia I fill my head with, there’s one thing that I can’t seem to get a handle on: there are certain actors who I can never tell apart.

It’s like I have some kind of learning disability when it comes to these guys. And it’s not always because they look the same. Sometimes there’s just something about them that makes it hard to differentiate one guy from the other. Nick Nolte and Gary Busey, and Bill Paxton and Bill Pullman are common examples. The weird thing is I can tell those guys apart, but I have a much harder time with… Read more »

American Idol Has Officially Jumped the Shark

Watching American Idol last night, it really dawned on me how boring everything was. It should have been one of the most tense and exciting shows of the season, but it was really just “meh”. I started to reflect back on the entire season from the beginning, and it’s really not the same experience anymore.

Some people said the same thing about last year, but it’s really hit a new low. The show is actually quite boring to watch, and there’s probably a few reasons for this. It’s still winning its timeslot and a huge ratings juggernaut, but I think more people are watching it out of habit than ever. If you actually take a look at the show and the overall entertainment value, it’s just not fun anymore. Read more »
