We’re a few weeks into season one of X factor on Fox, and chances are you seen an episode or to yourself. There was a lot of hype for this show and of course everybody is wondering whether or not it lives up to it. It all depends on what you were expecting in the first place. If you were hoping that it would be an entirely different show that would revolutionize the music scene then you would probably be disappointed. If on the other hand, you wanted a solid music contest show that was a suitable rival to American Idol, then you might be pleased with what Fox has given us.
A lot of hullabaloo was made about Simon Cowell leaving American Idol in starting a “brand new” show. But let’s face facts here, there is nothing new about X factor. The concept is not new since a British version of the show has existed for several years now. The first few weeks have also been incredibly reminiscent of American Idol. Just because you have an audience during the audition process doesn’t mean you are revolutionizing anything.
