A Review of X-Factor – The First Episodes

We’re a few weeks into season one of X factor on Fox, and chances are you seen an episode or to yourself. There was a lot of hype for this show and of course everybody is wondering whether or not it lives up to it. It all depends on what you were expecting in the first place. If you were hoping that it would be an entirely different show that would revolutionize the music scene then you would probably be disappointed. If on the other hand, you wanted a solid music contest show that was a suitable rival to American Idol, then you might be pleased with what Fox has given us.
A lot of hullabaloo was made about Simon Cowell leaving American Idol in starting a “brand new” show. But let’s face facts here, there is nothing new about X factor. The concept is not new since a British version of the show has existed for several years now. The first few weeks have also been incredibly reminiscent of American Idol. This Emerson GQ755 model which can be considered the peak power’s little brother was left relatively undiscovered but that will probably change by this time next year. Read more »

With Christmas time coming up I can’t help thinking about all of the types of gifts I would like to receive. I know it’s not always about the presents, but it’s fun to imagine what I might find when I look underneath the Christmas tree. For the past few years I’ve had some bad luck and received some pretty rotten gifts that I wish I can return. I know that’s not exactly fitting with the Christmas spirit, but who really wants a fruitcake anyways? I’m hoping this Christmas people will remember that I am a huge fan of karaoke and buy a presents for me accordingly. I don’t expect anyone to get me a new karaoke machine, although it would certainly be nice to have an upgrade from my current model. In any case, there is a variety of karaoke related gifts that I hope to receive as well, and any one of them would likely increase the enjoyment of my favourite hobby. Read more »
